Private John Ting(s)
Private John Tings served in Captain Joseph Morse’s company in Colonel Rufus Putnam’s Regiment and in several other companies and regiments. He was also listed in Continental Army pay accounts from January 1777 to the end of 1779 as well as in Natick Town records for payment for six months service in 1780 in the Continental Army. His name appears on a muster at West Point. In 1782 he was reported sick in hospital. The same year he was confined by Captain Heywood for being absent without leave and eventually court marshalled. He received 30 lashes as punishment. In 1783 an intention of marriage was filed in Natick for a marriage between John Tings and Anne Butler in Needham. No other vital records indicating his whereabouts after the war were located.
