Private John Gay Jr.
Private John Gay, Jr. (1750 - unknown), of English heritage, marched on Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775 and is named on the 1775 Muster Roll. He later enlisted in the Continental Army and served from 1777 - 1781 under Colonel Israel Putnam. HIs service took him as far as West Point. John was the first son of John and Olive Gay.
For a time, their family home was at 98 Union Street. The house, known as the John Gay - Luther Broad home still stands today. It is shown on the 1750 Livermore Map.
