Private Thomas Broad
Private Thomas Broad Jr. (1744-1807) was baptized in 1744 (son of Thomas). He married Abigail Mann in 1768, and was the father of five children. He marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775 with Captain Joseph Morse’s Company in Colonel Samuel Bullard’s regiment. He was later sent to Rhode Island in August of 1780. He died in 1807 and was buried in Natick.
Thomas Sr. (1714-1800) married Rebekah Bacon and was father of eight children. It is unclear if he himself served.
Thomas Broad, either Jr. or Sr. also sent another man into service on his behalf according to town records. The record states that Thomas Broad was paid in July of 1777 for “One turn to Canada by James Diggo.” This is also possibly a man known elsewhere in the records as Peter Diggo. Thomas Broad Sr. is buried in Natick.
